book review: Crazy! Hot! and living on the edge!! by shirley slaughterCrazy! Hot! AND LIVING ON THE EDGE!! is eighty pages long and easy to read in a single sitting, which is exactly how I read it. Shirley Slaughter’s concise and practically no-words-wasted writing style makes this non-fiction flow effortlessly. However for me, the real momentum of the book comes from the author’s candid accounts of her daunting health challenges—she holds nothing back and keeps no secrets—and the way she demanded something better for herself. It was exciting to read about the alternatives and solutions that Shirley discusses, many of which I was familiar with. Don’t think for one minute that this book won’t hold your attention. There are few people, if any, who do not know someone who has gone through some or many of the quality-of-life-threatening situations of which Shirley speaks. The advice offered here may well help someone you love and care about get on a path of recovery.
The emotional power of this book, which reaches out and connects with its audience, is Shirley’s perseverance and genuine desire to help others take control of some of the most common yet most debilitating health problems of this day and time. Readers empathize with her struggles and hopefully, those with similar overwhelming challenges will spring into action, as Shirley so often did, and reclaim their health and consequently, their lives. Thanks, Shirley, for such an honest and helpful book.
